Hey there, welcome to my crib! As someone who has been in the interior design industry for over 10 years, I've seen it all. From minimalism to maximalism and everything in between, I've learned that the key to a great home is personalization. Your home should reflect who you are and what you love.

One of my favorite things about designing a new space is working with color. Color has the power to completely transform a room's vibe. When selecting a color palette, I recommend choosing one dominant color and then adding in complementary or contrasting accents. This creates visual interest and prevents the room from feeling flat.

Furniture placement is also incredibly important. Too often I see people push all of their furniture up against the walls, leaving a large empty space in the center of the room. Instead, I suggest floating the furniture and creating defined areas within the room. For example, a sofa and two chairs can create a cozy seating area, while a console table and mirror can define an entryway.

Lighting is another crucial factor in creating a welcoming space. Layering different types of lighting, such as overhead fixtures, table lamps, and floor lamps, creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. It's also important to consider the color temperature of the bulbs you choose. A warmer, more yellow-toned light is great for creating a relaxed and cozy mood, while cooler, more blue-toned light is better for areas where you need to focus, like a home office or kitchen.

When it comes to decor, I encourage clients to fill their homes with items that have meaning. This could be anything from a vintage family heirloom to a piece of art they fell in love with on vacation. Incorporating personal touches like these makes a space feel lived-in and loved.

Of course, every great home needs some organization. I firmly believe that everything in your home should have a place, whether it's a designated shelf for books or a drawer for pens and pencils. When everything has a place, it's easier to keep the space tidy and clutter-free.

Finally, I believe that a home should always be evolving. Don't be afraid to switch up your decor or try out a new furniture layout. As your life changes, so should your home. With a little bit of creativity and a lot of love, you can create a space that truly feels like yours.
